Hurricane Harvey Update

Since Hurricane Harvey touched ground on August 28, many people across the country and around the world have rallied to donate or establish a physical presence to help those in need. Organizations such as All Hands Volunteers and Save the Children have used their presence to provide aid to those affected with emergency supplies, food, and by providing child-friendly spaces. Another nonprofit, Direct Relief, has made its entire inventory of more than $100 million in medicines and supplies available, in addition to shipping out medical aid to clinics in impacted communities such as Houston, Dallas, and Katy. Direct Relief has continued to stay in communication with its 60+ partners, ready to deploy assistance if needed in their respected areas around Texas.

The American Red Cross has also continued to take a stance in light of Hurricane Harvey. They are partnering with the United States Coast Guard and the Texas National Guard to move supplies and volunteers to where they are needed most. In addition, they have over 2,000 volunteers on the ground with more assistance on its way. They are also being joined by the Mexican Red Cross who will help with shelter and support, including providing Spanish speaking support to survivors. No matter how small or big the contribution, those who were in the path of Hurricane Harvey need the help of the community and country to rebuild.

The Bright Funds Hurricane Harvey Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund is comprised of pre-vetted nonprofits providing disaster response in the region. Through a single tax deductible donation to the Fund, you can support multiple organizations’ initiatives to provide short-term and long-term response and recovery. We have initially selected organizations that are on the ground assisting with immediate relief needs, including rescue efforts and medical assistance. The composition of nonprofits in this fund is subject to change as we learn more about the needs on the ground.
