Tragedy and crisis often open fissures to problems that have existed beneath the surface of our awareness. The brutal murders of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, Ahmaud Arbery, and many more have exposed systemic violence and racial injustice in our country, and have provoked a powerful, global response. Their senseless deaths highlight how fragile the social contract of protection, dignity and basic human rights is to Black communities.
Bright Funds stands in solidarity, support, and mourning with Black communities across the country. We are committed to empowering our community of activists, donors, companies, and nonprofits to play a role in ushering in a long overdue era of dignity, security and equality to Black communities by facilitating donations and volunteer time to nonprofit organizations working on racial justice and terminating systemic violence.
We recognize there is a long and windy road ahead. We pledge to amplify voices of the nonprofit community working tirelessly to bring forth justice by equipping them with digital tools and to harness the resources within our company and donor communities to meet grassroots needs and drive policy changes. We acknowledge the privileged space we occupy. As such we have a special obligation to listen and learn from the communities most impacted and often least empowered. By our very nature of being a technology platform we are intent on leveraging our diverse community and our platform to magnify solutions for positive change.
